Here's a recipe for plant-based vegan momos:


  • For the dough:
    • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 cup of water
    • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • For the filling:
    • 1 cup of finely chopped cabbage
    • 1/2 cup of grated carrots
    • 1/2 cup of chopped mushrooms
    • 1/2 cup of chopped onions
    • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
    • 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
    • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
    • 1/2 tsp of ground black pepper
    • Salt to taste


  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and water in a mixing bowl. Mix until it forms smooth dough.
  2. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, then cover it and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the onions and garlic until they become translucent.
  4. Add the cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms to the pan. Cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables become soft.
  5. Add the soy sauce, ground black pepper, and salt to taste. Mix well and remove from heat.
  6. Roll out the dough into small circles about 3 inches in diameter.
  7. Place a small spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each circle.
  8. Fold the edges of the circle inwards to create pleats and enclose the filling.
  9. Steam the momos for 8-10 minutes until they become translucent, and the dough is cooked.
